ANSWER: To migrate NetWrix File Server
Change Reporter or NetWrix SQL Server Change Reporter from one server to another, follow the steps bellow:
Install the product on a new server and enter the
license data
On the server where the product was installed
earlier, navigate to: - in Windows 2003 Local Disk (C:)àDocuments and
SettingsàAll UsersàApplication Date - in Windows Vista or later Local Disk (C:)àProgramData
Copy the NetWrix folder to a new server to the corresponding
directory: - in Windows 2003 Local Disk (C:)àDocuments and SettingsàAll UsersàApplication Date - in Windows Vista or later Local Disk (C:)àProgramData
If the Audit Archive has not been moved from its
default location earlier, skip this step. If you have moved the Audit Archive
to another location, copy its folder to a new server to the same directory as
it was stored before. The default location for the Audit Archive:
- in Windows 2003 Local Disk (C:)àDocuments and
SettingsàAll UsersàApplication Data àNetWrix à Management Console à Data - in Windows Vista or later Local Disk (C:)àProgramData à NetWrix à Management Console à Data
Export registry keys:
a) On the server where the product was installed
earlier, launch “regedit” via the command line and navigate to - for a 32-bit Operating System HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEàSOFTWAREàNetWrix - for a 64-bit Operating System HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEàSOFTWAREàWow6432NodeàNetWrix
b) Right-click NetWrix and select Export.
c) In the Export Registry File dialog, select a file
for export or create a new one.
d) Copy the file with
exported registry keys to a new server and double-click it to launch registry
merging.
On the server where the product was installed
earlier, navigate to the product installation folder and copy all XML and TXT
files to the installation folder on a new server.
Apply the migration changes:
a) Launch NetWrix Enterprise Management Console and
open the product configuration settings page. b) Make any change in the settings and save it, e.g.
select the Enable network traffic compression box. c) Undo the change and save the settings again, e.g.
clear the Enable network traffic compression box.
Note: this set of steps must be performed for
each product’s configuration settings.
The product migration to a new server will be
saved successfully.
