Warning : The Who Changed and When Changed fields in the change report may show incorrect data
|Symptoms||The audit report from SQL Server Change Reporter contains the following warning:
“The Who Changed and When Changed fields in the change report may show incorrect data, because tracing was disabled on the problematic_server server during report generation. Tracing is required for the change reporting process, and it has been automatically enabled for future reports.”
|Cause||There are three common causes for this issue:
1)The audit tracing has been enabled for SQL Server Change Reporter. There are NO issues here. You can ignore this warning.
2)The audit report from SQL Server Change Reporter contains this warning for every data collection. The SQL Server Change Reporter automatically detected the default SQL server log path and enabled the auditing tracing in this path. SQL server sometimes does not return the default SQL server log path and the SQL Server Change Reporter cannot enable the audit tracing. You need to manually specify the tracing log path for the problematic server. The following NetWrix KB article describes how you can manually set the tracing log path: How can I change the log path
3)The audit report from SQL Server Change Reporter contains this warning only after a restart of the SQL server. Refer to the following NetWrix KB article: Disabled tracing issue.
