Symptoms You receive the following error:
Error saving [Product] history to database: Cannot open database "[Product Database]" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user '[Service Account]'.
Cause The account being used to upload data into the database does not have permission to the specified database.
Resolution To give the specified service account access to all netwrix databases and/or any databases on the SQL service instance, follow these steps:
  1. Open up Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  2. Login with an SA account or the account you used to install the product
  3. Expand the Security folder
  4. Right-click on Logins
  5. Click on Search and make sure to change the Locations to the specific domain
  6. Make sure Windows Authentication radio box is checked
  7. Click on User Mapping on the left side
  8. Select the database(s) you want to give permissions to
  9. After selecting a database, on the bottom, select db_securityadmin
  10. Click OK
After the above steps are performed, the specified service account will be able to upload data into the database.
