Symptoms Netwrix Auditor displays incorrect user account in the "Reviewed By" column after updating Review Status in a web browser.
Cause By default Netwrix stores service account credentials for data access in the Report Server.
To review these credentials, navigate to one of the following locations (depending on your Netwrix Auditor version):
  • Netwrix Auditor 7.0: Netwrix Auditor Administrator Console -> Settings -> AuditIntelligence
  • Netwrix Auditor 7.1 - 8.5: Netwrix Auditor Administrator Console -> AuditArchive -> Audit Database
  • Netwrix Auditor 9.0: Netwrix Auditor -> Settings -> Audit Database
According to this model the service account is used every time no matter what account was used to logon to the Report Manager and access the report. This causes the service account to appear as reviewer in reports when Review Status is updated in a web browser.

Resolution This behavior can be changed by setting Reporting Services to use Windows integrated security for data access. To do it, perform the following steps:
  1. Navigate to %Netwrix Auditor installation folder%\Audit Core\ and open the ReportUploader.acconf file.
  2. In this file, replace the <a n='ReUploadDataSources' v='true'/> string with <a n='ReUploadDataSources' v='false'/>.
  3. Navigate to Start -> Run and type "services.msc". In the Services dialog, locate the Netwrix Auditor Archive Service and restart it.
  4. Depending on your Netwrix Auditor version, navigate to one of the following locations:
  • Netwrix Auditor 7.0: Netwrix Auditor Administrator Console -> Settings -> AudiIntelligence  -> SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Netwrix Auditor 7.1 - 8.5: Netwrix Auditor Administrator Console -> AuditArchive -> Audit Database -> SQL Server Reporting Services settings.
  • Netwrix Auditor 9.0: Netwrix Auditor -> Settings -> Audit Database -> SQL Server Reporting Services settings.
  1. Click the Report Manager URL link.
  2. In your web browser, navigate to one of the following locations depending on your audited system:
Audited SystemLocation
Active DirectoryNetwrix Auditor -> Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory -> Change Reports
ExchangeNetwrix Auditor -> Netwrix Auditor for Exchange -> Change Reports
SharePointNetwrix Auditor -> Netwrix Auditor for SharePoint -> Change Reports
Windows ServerNetwrix Auditor -> Netwrix Auditor for Windows Server -> Change Reports
Group PolicyNetwrix Auditor -> Netwrix Auditor for Group Policy -> Change Reports
  1. In the Change Reports folder, click the Details view, then click the DS_Common link and select the Windows Integrated Security option. Click Apply.
Note: This rule will be applied to new changes only. All previous changes with review status preserve incorrect user account in the "Reviewed By" column.
