Paul Lanzi Joins CyberSecurity Nonprofit as Board Advisor
Paul Lanzi, the co-founder of Remediant, now part of Netwrix, joined the advisory board of the CyberSecurity Nonprofit, a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting cybersecurity awareness and education. In his position as Board Advisor, Lanzi contributes efforts to the Greater Chicago-based nonprofit in its mission to build a supporting, diverse, and inclusive cybersecurity community through education and training.
The lack of diversity within the cybersecurity community is an often-overlooked issue. Only 26% of cybersecurity professionals in the U.S. identify as a racial and ethnic minority and only 25% of the cybersecurity workforce are composed of those who identify as women. Inclusiveness and diversity are not only a social ideal, but a factor that enhances business resiliency. “There is strong evidence that the more diverse a team, the stronger they are: better equipped to make decisions and weather difficult times,” Lanzi said. “To ensure a stronger cybersecurity community, we will need to tackle these diversity challenges head-on.”
Making cybersecurity education readily available to people of every background is critical to keeping data safe for the entire market.
Individuals are now subject to having their data breached when the companies they trust with their personal information are less than fastidious with it. In short, we all — both as workers and individuals — face cybersecurity threats at an unprecedented scale.
